Stoner Musicians' Birthdays to Celebrate!

From reggae to country, these musical stoners all have one thing in common; their love for the green.

As hemp, and her more psychoactive cousin whom we shall not name (wink wink), becomes less stigmatized, more people have come forward and admitted to using the magical plant at least once in their life.

Among those who have admitted to indulging in the devil’s lettuce are quite a few musicians. We’ve created a short list of well-known 420-friendly musicians’ birthdays to celebrate by toking up.

Rihanna: February 20th

If you don’t know her by now, where have you been (all my life)? Rihanna is a singer, actress, and businesswoman who’s been sighted on several occasions with a blunt or two in her hand. It’s no secret that the Barbadian pop, R&B, reggae, and hip hop artist is an advocate for that premium green. We think she’s worth celebrating by lighting one up for her birthday on February 20th.

Bob Marley: February 6th

Speaking of Jamaican natives, let us not forget Rastafarian and reggae musical pioneer Bob Marley. Much of his life and music were influenced by our favorite magical plant. Even his 1978 reggae album Kaya, heavily revolves around love and hemp. Mark your calendars for February 6th and roll one up for the legend himself.

Snoop Dogg: October 20th

When you talk about friends in high places, there’s no one quite as high as Snoop Dogg. The Long Beach rapper is notoriously known for his intimate relationship with hemp and he makes no attempt to hide his love for the plant. His debut in the music scene was on Dr. Dre’s 1992 album, The Chronic. While Snoop (and Dre) may encourage you to “smoke w**d every day” (from 2001 aka The Chronic II) we highly suggest toking up on Snoop Doggy Dogg’s birthday, October 20th.

Willie Nelson: April 29th

What is it about musical legends that love kush? Country music star Willie Nelson might go down as the oldest musical stoner alive (coming in at a whopping 89). He’s made the claim that hemp may have saved his life and for that, we thank the herb that’s a cut above. Help celebrate Willie’s 90th birthday with an edible or two on April 29th.

Kacey Musgraves: August 21st

While we’re on the topic of kush-loving country music stars, you may (or may not) be surprised to learn that rising star Kacey Musgraves is an advocate for the plant. A friend of Willie Nelson’s, she has even referenced hemp in many of her songs such as "Follow Your Arrow" and "Merry Go Round." In the words of Kacey herself, “roll up a joint, or don’t,” for her birthday on August 21st.

Jerry Garcia: August 1st

For our psychedelic music fans, Jerry Garcia should be a familiar name amongst 420-friendly musicians. One of the founding members of and lead guitarist for The Grateful Dead, Jerry was a social smoker. Even his daughter, Trixie, claims that “a joint became a bridge between him and those around him.” So gather your friends for a little puff puff pass and celebrate the life of Jerry on August 1st.

Whatever your flavor of music we encourage you – to safely and in compliance with the 2018 Farm Bill – celebrate these awesome 420-friendly musicians’ birthdays with our favorite magical plant.
