10 Hemp Holidays Worth Celebrating

Too impatient to wait for 4/20 to roll one up? Looking for a good excuse to toke up and celebrate hemp more than once a year?

Whether you’re an avid user or prefer to reserve the smoking of our favorite magical plant for special occasions, there is more than one day, and one way, to celebrate the joys and benefits of hemp!

As more states across the nation begin to legalize the medicinal and recreational use of hemp, Mississippi legalizing medicinal use, and Rhode Island recreational use as of 2022, why not celebrate the greatest strides made in the hemp community AND our favorite magical plant year-round!?

If you’re new to the world of hemp, you might be familiar with 420. But did you know there are a plethora of other holidays that should be celebrated with a nice bowl (or two) of premium green?

Here is Lewis Lemon's Official Hemp Holiday Calendar:

February 4th: National Hemp Day

Obviously, National Hemp Day is at the top of our list to celebrate the magical plant considering we grow it, DUH! In 2019, cbdMD founded February 4th as National Hemp Day. The holiday is meant to bring awareness to what hemp is and aims to clear up any confusion about the difference between hemp and her *magical* cousin. Lewis Lemon owes a big debt of gratitude to the industrial cultivation of hemp and we think that is surely worth celebrating by lighting one up! (if you're into that)

April 22nd: Earth Day

What better way to celebrate our lovely planet than by indulging in the joys of hemp? After all, mother nature was so gracious enough to gift us this magical plant. Roll one up and celebrate the earth in all her glory! Just don’t forget to pick up after yourself when you’re done as it is our job to protect our awesome planet.

May 17th: World Baking Day

Wanna get baked with some yummy baked goods? World baking day is a great reason to try a new edible recipe or toke up and munch on your favorite pastries, desserts, and sweets. Us Lemonheads recommend lemon donuts (duh!) the perfect balance of tart and sweet.

June 18th: Jack Herer’s Birthday

Who the hell is Jack Herer? Jack, otherwise known as “the Hemperor,” was an American author and hemp activist. Jack dedicated much of his life to promoting the legalization and decriminalization of the plant in the United States and around the world. He even helped to start organizations like HEMP (Help End Marijuana Prohibition). It’s only fitting to honor the life of Jack Herer by lighting one up. Read more about Jack’s amazing life and all he’s done for the hemp community here.

July 10th: National Dab Day (Oils and Concentrates Day)

The technology within the hemp industry has far surpassed what was once imaginable. Oils and concentrates are an example of these great technological achievements and we at Lewis Lemon Hemp think that’s worth celebrating! So sit back, get ripped, and bask in all the glory of oils and concentrates. Fun Fact: OIL flipped upside down spells 710.

August 8th: National CBD Day

Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, which federally legalized the production of hemp, CBD has quickly dominated the holistic market. The folks over at cbdMD and National Day Calendar have deemed August 8th National CBD Day, since 2018. If you’re not familiar with the stupendous health benefits of CBD, one of the many Cannabidiols found in the magical plant, we urge you use national CBD Day as a reason to explore! You're sure to be amazed at its many healing properties, without the psychoactive effects of THC.

September 24th: World Cannabis Activism Day

It should come as no surprise that for decades, hemp has been the topic of hot debate in many different circles. Especially in the United States, the argument for criminalization or decriminalization of the magical plant has led to much controversy and advocacy. For one day a year, let us put aside our differences, and celebrate the dedicated activism that has led so many of us to reap the benefits of hemp by sharing a bowl of green.

October 5th: Commemorating the Victims of Prohibition

If you’re unfamiliar with the LONG history of hemp in the United States, it may shock you to learn that the prohibition of the magical plant stretches back to the 1920s and 1930s. Before there was a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), narcotics and hemp fell under the jurisdiction of the Treasury Department, more specifically the Federal Bureau of Narcotics. In 1937 the Marijuana Tax Act was passed, outlawing the solicitation, sale, production, and use of marijuana. Just three days later, a raid was conducted in Denver and two men were arrested for marijuana. October 5th is dedicated to the commemoration of the victims of marijuana prohibition. In compliance with the 2018 Farm Bill, we recommend celebrating with CBD flower or Delta-8, if it is legal in your state.

October 10th: World Mental Health Day

Many hemp users are drawn to the magical plant because of its benefits in aiding and relieving anxiety, depression, PTSD, insomnia, and other neurological disorders. Mental health is just as important as physical health, so let's celebrate good mental health by rolling one up!

November 6th: Legalization Day

On November 6th, 2012, Colorado and Washington both officially legalized the recreational use of marijuana thus cementing marijuana’s legitimate position in the United States. Legalization is an uphill battle that many have fought their whole lives to secure and many others have faced serious repercussions for. Since 2012, 35 other states and 6 Tribal Nations have adopted or amended medicinal or recreational cannabis laws. Every November 6th should be celebrated by smoking the magical plant we all love so much to memorialize the great strides the cannabis community has achieved.

However you choose to celebrate, whether it be with joints, edibles, bowls, or oils, please remember to consume our favorite magical plant responsibly and in compliance with your state's laws.
